Welcome to RLJ Sax and Clarinet Lessons. My name is Rachel Llewellyn-Jones and I have been teaching sax and clarinet for over 20 years in the Bristol area, both privately and in schools. My aim is to help you realise your own potential and expand your wider understanding of music and performance.
I help students of all ages and skill levels to unlock their musical abilities. Whether you're a beginner picking up the saxophone or clarinet for the first time, or an experienced player looking to refine your techniques, I am here to guide you on your musical journey. Location
Lessons take place in my home studio in West Town, Backwell. I am a 12 minute walk from Nailsea Backwell train station and 5 minutes walk from the X1 bus route, serving both central Bristol and Weston-super-Mare. On-street parking is available right outside.
Lessons
What to expect
Lessons are an hour long (or half an hour for young children) and cost £40 per session.
Block bookings are available. 12 lessons are the price of 10 if paid for in advance (blocks are non-refundable).
First lessons are half price!
Lessons cancelled within 24 hours of the booking will be charged for.
I will provide all resources (unless you have a piece already that you'd like to work on) and will supply recordings of our pieces too. I even take requests and can transcribe pieces that aren't otherwise available in sheet music form.

I have enhanced DBS clearance and am experienced working with children with SEN. Parents are welcome to stay for the lessons if preferred.
More about me...
I have been playing music professionally for over 30 years. Over those years I have specialised in Jazz, Funk, Latin, Eastern European and Klezmer. I still love Classical music too. These days I am also playing Rockabilly and Big Band Swing. I have worked as a soloist and prolific band member, as well as a session player for recording projects. I have A Level Music and a Music Degree from Dartington College of Arts.
